Snow trumps Horror

MY FIRST SIGNINGS of the New Year were supposed to be in Cincinnati / Newport, KY this weekend on Friday and Saturday… but I’m afraid the 8-12 inches of snow that’s falling in Chicago right now has forced a postponement of that… driving 5 hours through Illinois and Indiana tomorrow morning is probably NOT a good idea at this point. Especially in a rear-wheel drive Mustang. But the good news is, I’ve rescheduled those stops…

JohnEverson.com joins Dark Chicago

I AM PROUD TO ANNOUNCE a new affiliation between the John Everson ~ Dark Arts site and the Dark Chicago network of horror-oriented websites! You’ll notice the Dark Chicago banner now on the main menu pages across my web site; give one a click and check out all of the dark stuff seeping out of the Windy City. There’s an impressive lot of dark culture here! Spearheaded by Chicago horror artist Chad Savage, the Dark Chicago portal of…

Merry Christmas, Everyone

IN CHICAGOLAND, the ground is covered by snow… and my house is festooned (how often do you get to use that word?) with lights…It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas. Good thing too, since today is Christmas Eve. It’s hard to believe it’s the end of 2009 already. Since last December, both Sacrifice and The 13th have been released and I’ve written and turned in a fourth novel, Siren. I’ve done book signings all…

THE 13TH on film

A COUPLE MONTHS AGO, when I was the author guest at the Chicago Horror Film Festival, I met Chicago Filmmaker John Borowski, who has been featured on the History Channel – he wrote and directed the serial killer documentaries H.H. Holmes and Albert Fish. We hit it off pretty well, and yesterday John, with the help of cinematographer Eric Richter,  wrapped a creepy new video “trailer” for my third novel The 13th! I’m hoping this is…

Frightening Journeys

SOMEDAY I HOPE to meet Nerine Dorman. A South African writer, editor, photographer, model and musician, I “met” her through a Yahoo Group many years ago, and we’ve been in touch off and on ever since. During that time, I’ve gone on to publish books, and now she’s on the eve of the release of her own first fantasy novel, Khepera Rising. Life does move forward… This week she did a short interview with me to…

Don’t try this on the Golden Gate

OK, FOR EVERYONE who’s never gotten to walk or drive across the Golden Gate Bridge… this one’s for you. I’ve done both now (it’s much easier to drive it!) On my way back to San Francisco after exploring the small seaside towns of Jenner and Bodega Bay an hour or two north of there, I decided to film my re-entry to urban sprawl. Can’t beat the soundtrack that just happened to come in on cue from…

Taxi Confessions & Aural Loss

TAXIS ONLY SHOW UP early when you’re not ready. Otherwise, they’re late when you really need to be… on the road! This morning, my cab was early. He sat in the drive as I pulled my son’s socks on for him since mom was in the shower, gulped a half cup of coffee re-warmed from yesterday’s unemptied pot, and downed a Claritin-D. And then I was off to O’Hare Airport on a Sunday morning… and…

Booksignings this week! Decatur, Geneva & Seattle

The 13th by John Everson

Let the tour begin… LAST WEEKEND,  I sent out a hurried edition of my e-newsletter as I was heading out to be an author guest at Zombie Con X in Milwaukee where the paperback edition of The 13TH debuted.   If you’re not a subscriber to the monthly update, you can join here: www.johneverson.com/newsletter/ The con was great fun — and if you ever get a chance to see a movie called The ZomBeatles… all I can say…

Zombies, Dark Flix & The 13th

OK. IT’S ALL ABOUT to get crazy again. Tomorrow I’m off to Milwaukee for the weekend to guest at ZombieConX… which will also serve as the launchpad for the mass market paperback release of The 13th. Leisure Books shipped the first box, hot of the press, directly to the hotel… so copies are actually there waiting for me now (I haven’t seen a copy myself yet!) After Zombie Con, I’ll be doing a couple events in…
