JohnEverson.com redesign: New Website for a New Year!

IT’S BEEN LONG overdue, but I’ve officially launched the JohnEverson.com redesign!  My site has had a few different looks over the years but the last time I gave it a full redesign was August 2008. The web has changed a lot since then, so JohnEverson.com really needed a facelift. The last design was my longest-lived look, thanks to the design help of Alina Ciejka Gonciarz and the awesome artwork from Travis Anthony Soumis (repurposed from…

Merry Christmas!

I CAN’T BELIEVE it is Christmas Eve already! Here’s a little song to help make your holiday merry. I wrote “Show Me Christmas” 20 years ago and recorded it at my friend Mark Konzen’s house with my friend Lexi Zehren at the mic. Turn it up! And while you’re listening, here’s an original Christmas fantasy story that I wrote a long time again for family and friends that you can read:  It’s called, “Christmas, The…

Early promotion…

A Horror Reunion – HorrorHound 2017

I HAVE GROWN to really love HorrorHound Weekend in Indianapolis as much as I love my own hometown Flashback Weekend Convention. I started going to HorrorHound a few years ago because my last publisher, Samhain Publishing, was a major sponsor and so they had a large space at the front of one of the exhibit halls… and six to eight of their authors hung out at the table all weekend signing books.  But when Samhain…

Wizard World Chicago Comic Con 2017

I HAD A GREAT time at Wizard World Chicago Comic Con this weekend! These conventions always seem to fly by; one minute it’s Thursday and it looks like tons of time ahead… and then all of a sudden it’s 4 p.m. Sunday and you’re packing up to go home. This year, once again author wrangler and moderator extraordinaire Genese  Davis pulled me in to do panels on fiction writing and help with managing the author…

Flashback Weekend 2017 = Suspiria and Better Off Dead!

FLASHBACK WEEKEND is one of my favorite events of the year, but this year’s edition for me can be summed up in five words:  Suspiria and Better Off Dead! These are two of my favorite films, and this year, Synapse Films gave a preview of their 4K restoration of Suspiria next door to the hotel at the former Muvico theater. And it was gorgeous! Don May gave a brief talk about the trials of restoring…

Four years ago, in the spring of 2013, my novel NightWhere was…

Violet Eyes, is an ode to the “Creature Features” movies I used to watch as a kid. Spiders. Flies… creepy cocoons…. It’s an apocalyptic bug sci-fi thriller! Violet Eyes was featured on the…
