SACRIFICING VIRGINS will have a sneak peek debut at HorrorHound Weekend!

MY FOURTH FULL-LENGTH short story collection, Sacrificing Virgins, is due to be released the first week of December — it’s available for pre-order now on Amazon — but if you’re going to be at HorrorHound Weekend in Indianapolis this weekend, you can grab a preview copy directly from me! I will be at the Samhain Publishing booth Friday night – Sunday afternoon, and Samhain let me know this week that they will have a sneak…

Winners of THE FAMILY TREE Contest announced!

It’s been a pretty crazy month for me — aside from having our kitchen completely ripped up as it is being redone floor to ceiling, I was also out of the country for work for a week… so I’m afraid I’m remiss in announcing the winners of last month’s The Family Tree contest…  Nevertheless… I did, in fact, notify the winners in August. Here’s how it all went down — Samhain Publishing was running a…

Guest Post: La Sayona – Siren of the Highways

TODAY I’M HAPPY to turn my blog over to Catherine Cavendish. Her new novella, Dark Avenging Angel debuts tomorrow from Samhain Publishing, and I, for one, am looking forward to reading it. After all… demons are involved! But… I’ll let her tell you about it: La Sayona – Siren of the Highways by Catherine Cavendish My latest novella – Dark Avenging Angel – is, as its title suggests, concerned with revenge. In this case, revenge…

Be a character in a novel – Enter THE FAMILY TREE contest!

MY EIGHTH NOVEL, The Family Tree, was released late in the fall last year, but it’s totally a “summer” book. All the events take place in a backwoods locale in the midst of summer… So this week, it’s like a re-launch — my publisher, Samhain Publishing, has put the novel on sale at 99 cents on all outlets. I’m hoping to make this a super successful sale so that it gets read and discovered by…

Vigilantes of Love is now at #3 in Amazon Horror!

MY SECOND BOOK ever released (back in 2003!) was Vigilantes of Love, a collection that includes horror tales, but also some of my lighter, more heartstring-pulling stories. Originally released on Chicago’s Twilight Tales imprint, it eventually went out of print with the dissolution of Twilight Tales until I got the rights back a couple years ago and released an updated version of my Dark Arts Books label. Vigilantes of Love has some of my favorite…

Goodbye to my aural gasms… again. Strangeways Radio R.I.P.

For the last five years, virtually every night, I’ve sat at my computer and written stories, answered emails, idly surfed Facebook, whatever… all with the sounds of Strangeways Radio soothing my music-loving soul. I just listened to the last broadcast of this long-running Internet radio station… and now my computer speakers are silent. Empty. I can’t tell you how much I’m going to miss this station, and the DJs, especially Mikey and Zumby,  who made…

World Horror Convention 2015 – Atlanta

WORLD HORROR CON 2015 was a strangely quiet convention for me. I’m not sure why, really — maybe because I was so burnt out from the crazy weeks that led up to it — but it was almost like I was an “observer” at the convention. I just never… quite… engaged. While I did spend some good times with old friends, I also ended up having a couple meals off on my own. And everybody…

OddCon 2015 was … oddly entertaining!

HAD A GREAT TIME this weekend at OdysseyCon hanging out with friends like Jonathan Maberry, W.D. Gagliani, David Benton, Chris Welch and Christine Verstraete and meeting very cool folks like Matt Forbeck, Alex Bledsoe, Paul Dale Anderson and James Frenkel. There were panels. There was craft beer. There was a cow zombie apocalypse at the opening ceremonies! Christine Verstraete posted a nice summary of the con with some quotes on her blog. I started the…

New NIGHTWHERE story… plus CAGE Kindle Countdown

A LOT OF PEOPLE  have asked me if I’m going to write a sequel to my sixth novel, NightWhere. I do want to eventually… I’ve always been interested in exploring the character of Selena more. But, that’s not what I’m currently working on. Never enough time to write all the stories I’d like to! I did, however, write a long “side story” set in the world of the novel awhile ago that has at last…

A Working Trip to Paradise (as in Paradise Island, Bahamas)

ANYONE WHO FOLLOWS me on Facebook or reads by blog frequently knows that my dayjob sends me on a lot of business trips. I’m working most of the time on these jaunts, but I am privileged to see different locales, even if only for short dinner outings outside the hotels. I’ve been to lots of typical cities (L.A., San Francisco, Seattle, New York) and some exotic outings (Kauai, Chile, Germany). But one of the most…
