NightWhere by John Everson
(Samhain Publishing)

She yearned to go beyond… but some curtains should never be opened.

When Rae broached the idea of visiting an underground sex club, Mark didn’t blink. He should have. Because NightWhere is not your usual swingers club. Where it’s held on a given night…only those who receive the red invitations know. Soon Rae is indulging in her lust for pain. And Mark is warned by a beautiful stranger to take his wife away before it’s too late.

But it’s already too late. Because Rae hasn’t come home. Now Mark is in a race against time—to find NightWhere again and save his wife from the mysterious Watchers who run the club. To stop her from taking that last step through the degradations of The Red into the ultimate BDSM promise of The Black. More than just their marriage and her life are at stake: Rae is in danger of losing her soul…

I have been a John Everson fan for quite a few years and was terribly excited when he emailed my a copy of his latest novel “NightWhere”. I was not disappointed.

John took the gloves off on this one, and delivers a book about the darker side of sexual obsession. This book is not for the feint of heart, be warned, this book is violent as all hell, with graphic scenes of sexual torture, pain and depravity…and I loved every word of it.

From the very first page of the prologue John grabs hold of you with prose that is lean and mean, great dialogue and fantastic characters.

John takes you an journey through the darkest sides of human nature, those that want to inflict and receive pain for sexual gratification.

Mark and Rae have an open marriage that as twisted as that is, works for them. But Rae, needs more…Mark can’t and will not satisfy her deepest, darkest fantasies. When NightWhere calls in the form of a red invitation Rae and Mark go, their lives will change forever.

Rae gets to fill her every dark desire, and Mark is hellbent on saving her from herself and “The Watchers” of NightWhere.

John plies his craft in “NightWhere” brilliantly, with imagery that will shock and terrify you. He uses bold strokes in his descriptive prose of the supernatural, graphic gore and sex that will tantalize and horrify.  I can guarantee once you start NightWhere you will not be able to put it down, it sinks it’s hooks into you and you just have to turn the next page to see what will happen next.

I have to admit that I am not usually a fan these types of stories but in John’s most capable hands “NightWhere” works on many levels and was one hell of a ride. It is a definite read for any horror fiction lover and I highly recommend it.
