YESTERDAY, A FEW BLOCKS from where I work, a convicted armed robber escaped from his escort on the way to a court sentencing. The guy changed clothes with one of his former guards, hijacked a car and then ditched it not far away — in the parking lot next to the office building where I work!
I gotta tell you, it’s hard to get much done when all the buildings and schools in the area go on lockdown, everyone is staring out the windows at the phalanx of police cars parked next door, and the sounds of manhunt helicopters overhead shake the building all afternoon.
