    ~ Covers: THE 13TH & OFIARA!
    10 April 2009, johneverson @ 11:09 pm

the-13th-leisure-180It’s been a pretty good week, all told.  I’ve slowly been recovering from the head and chest cold that totally laid me out last week (I’ve had it more than two weeks now, and amazingly, am still coughing from it!). But more importantly, just a couple weeks before my second novel, Sacrifice, hits the streets, I’ve gotten the cover art for the Leisure paperback edition of The 13th, my third novel (click the thumbnail for a larger version).

The book will be out in mid-October – just in time for Halloween! I also have gotten two different art treatments for the hardcover edition of the book, which will be out in a few weeks from Necro Publications. I’ll post that cover once it’s final. Last night, I finished going over the page proofs for the Necro edition, and shipped them back today. So it’s been a “13th” week for me. Here’s Leisure’s back cover synopsis of The 13th:

Castle House Lodge. A century ago it was an exclusive resort hotel. But for years it’s stood empty, a haunting shadow of its former glories. Now, after twenty-five years of rumors and ghost stories, the overgrown grounds are showing signs of being tended. The building itself has been repaired. Castle House has new occupants.

What was once a haven for the elite is now a madhouse, a private asylum for pregnant women. But are all the patients really insane? And is it just a coincidence that people have begun to disappear from the nearby town? David Shale’s girlfriend is one of the missing, and he’s determined to find the truth behind the mysterious Dr. Rockford and his house of secrets.

He will learn the meaning of the red X painted on the basement door…and he will know the ultimate fear, the horror of…
    THE 13TH.

OfiaraAs if all that news on The 13th wasn’t enough for one week, today the mail brought the final contract for Siren, my fourth novel, which will be out from Leisure next summer. I passed the 2/3 mark on the writing of that book today, and am starting to feel the fun of heading down the home stretch.

Plus (yep, there’s more), I also received the artwork last week for the Polish version of Sacrifice, which is due out in a month or so from Replika Books.

Titled Ofiara in Polish, I absolutely love this cover (click the thumbnail to see a larger version), and can’t wait to see the full book in Polish, though I won’t be able to read a word of it.

If you read or know someone who reads Polish, tell them to take a look here for information on the book, as well as an excerpt.

OK, that’s enough news for one week. I’m going back to coloring purple Easter eggs!
